FAITH: Our newest Arrow Fund victim.A good Samaritan found this small 3 lb. cat sitting in the middle of the road. The traumatized cat was rushed to a veterinary hospital. She is in good hands and being treated and cared for by Dr. Hofmeister and her staff at Animal Medical Center in Middletown. The doctors feel a caustic chemical (from the angle of the injury) was poured directly on her. She has suffered greatly. In trying to soothe her injuries, she licked herself which caused damage to her tongue that does not move properly now. There is, also, possible damage to her esophagus and stomach. A feeding tube will probably have to be inserted to achieve proper nutrition and allow her tongue, mouth and esophagus a chance to heal. All the while, "Faith" is purring madly because she is starved for kindness and love. We are asking for thoughts and prayers for "Faith".
Donations will be greatly appreciated to help cover the cost of Faiths's medical expenses and care
through PayPal or mail your donation to: Shamrock Arrow Fund, P.O. Box 24033, Louisville, Kentucky 40224. (Please be sure to mark your donation to Arrow Fund/Faith) and join us at Facebook for all the most recent updates! Thanks to all for your concern and generosity.

BAMBI: The Shamrock Foundation Arrow Fund is providing emergency medical care for a cocker spaniel thrown from a moving car in Harrison County, Indiana. A witness saw the dog pushed out of the car by several men as it traveled along Hwy. 135 in New Salisbury.
The Shamrock Foundation Arrow Fund heard about the dog and immediately contacted Officer Bruce Lahue with Harrison County Animal Control to offer medical assistance for the dog. Because of the seriousness of the injuries, the dog was taken to Louisville Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Services (LVSES) for evaluation and treatment. Dr. Cassidy , an LVSES veterinarian, says the dog has six pelvic fractures and bruising. Surgery will likely be necessary. Now named Bambi, she will be evalutated by the team of doctors at LVSES. Treatment costs have not been determined.
“This a horrific case of animal abuse that caused intense suffering to an innocent creature,” said Rebecca Eaves, Arrow Fund Director. “I sincerely hope the perpetrators of this cowardly act are identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Please help with Bambi's care

CHARLIE: Dear University Of Louisville Athletic Department and All U of L Fans, this is a photo of a 4 year old Golden Retriever that came in to Metro Animal Services over the holidays, found as a stray.
He was cold, wet, extremely matted, and dangerously underweight at only 40 lbs (should be 85 lbs). The Shamrock Pet Foundation Arrow Fund stepped up for this boy and have taken him in to their program. The Shamrock Arrow Fund was created to provide care for victims of horrific cases of cruelty and neglect. We knew that a dog surviving this degree of neglect and starvation was a miracle.
After being groomed free of mats and given a little food, he is on the long road to recovery. Now for his name...
His foster mom, a lifelong supporter of U of L Athletics, had a hard time picking out a name. The name had to show his strong will, his fighting and endearing spirit. After much thought, we introduce you to "Charlie Strong". Charlie for short. Charlie is
a wonderful animal, gentle but strong.
The Shamrock Arrow Fund would like to ask The U of L Athletics Department for some assistance. Whether it is signing a football or making a personal appearance, we would be so grateful. "Charlie Strong" would appreciate it!
Please help "Charlie Strong" and other victims of severe abuse and neglect through PayPal.

HOPE: A Border Collie mix was thrown from a car on I-65 south Wednesday, Sept. 29th at approximately 2:00 in the afternoon. She was struck by a car upon impact and landed in the median. Metro Animal Services picked up the dog, now named Hope, and is requesting any information about the persons who did this. The Humane Society of the United States is offering a $2500.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person orpersons responsible for this cruel act.
Since her condition was so serious she was transferred to a specialty emergency hospital for care. Her injuries consist of blunt internal trauma, a broken leg, broken knee and back injuries. Hope has undergone her first surgery and is in stable but critical condition. Shamrock Foundation's Arrow Fund and No Kill Louisville have taken over responsibility for the medical cost of Hope's treatment which can reach thousands of dollars.
When she has recovered, which could take up to a month or more, she will be available for adoption through the Shamrock Foundation. First and foremost, we have to get her well...

UPDATE - 11/14/2010: Hope, who had been thrown from a car on I-65, is still recuperating wonderfully under the care of her foster parents, Dr. Laura Day and Dr. Tom Day. She undergoes daily rehab and is now able to stand unassisted. She can walk short distances, but is still dragging one of her back paws. She recently had another surgery to remove pins from her knee. Another surgery is possible to two to three weeks to remove more pins. Shamrock Arrow Fund would like to thank those who donated funds to aid in her medical treatment and recovery. PRECIOUS: Precious was found August 19th crouched under a tree next to an apartment building. She was scared, extremely underweight, sick and had wounds on her head and ear. A dedicated Shamrock volunteer took her in and immediately rushed her to the vet. She was treated for upper respiratory, ear mites, the wounds on her body, an ulcer on her eye, was given her first shots, tested (negative) and dewormed. At this time it was estimated that she was approximately a little under 4 months of age and weighed only a little over a pound.
Precious, with excellent care, has recouperated from her wounds and will be spayed soon and have the surgery to remove the ulcer from her eye. She now weighs almost 4 pounds, has a great appetite and does the kitty side schuffle when she plays. She will be available for adoption after her surgery and needs a forever home. Please consider adopting Precious. Contact us at 502-585-3220.

GABRIEL, Special Home Needed: Gabriel was left at Estill County with a horrific open wound. Gabriel is fearful because of the abuse he encountered. He just wants someone to cuddle with and keep him safe.
UPDATE - 11/22/2010
After having his leg caught in a live hold trap, 10 weeks at the vet, restricted walking
and a lot of crating- Gabriel now is looking for his new forever family. He is with the most wonderful foster
family- (Thanks Alicia and Johnny!) Our fosters are going on a Holiday trip and we must find a new place for Gabriel. Gabriel loves other dogs, he is okay with cats, loves to snuggle and just be home. The abuse on Gabriel has made him afraid . He would do best in an inside home with a fenced backyard.
We will provide a trainer to come to the home and explain how to deal with his fear of being hurt again.
Thanks for considering Gabriel! If you would like to adopt Gabriel, please contact us at 502-585-3220.

SIMONE: Simone came to us from the Portland area of Louisville. At approximately 4 weeks old (the older kittens she was with were thought to be siblings) she was extremely tiny and sickly, weighing a mere 12 ounces. She struggled with cyclical diarrhea and constipation, couldn't digest kitten formula and had to be fed wet food and water from a syringe every few hours to keep her nourished and hydrated.
At a year old, Simone weighs 2.3 lbs--and looks more like a 12 week old kitten than an adult cat. She is very sweet and likes to snuggle under the blankets as close as possible and purr like a motorboat. She loves to be brushed and occasionally play with the other cats in the house but has never been one to seek out companionship with other cats. She prefers people! For a year now, she has struggled with bowel issues, has been clearly uncomfortable when she uses the litter box and she is a third the size she should be, but she's feisty and has a voracious appetite!
We finally were able to have Simone spayed, during which Dr. Garrity at Downtown Animal Hospital discovered a "stricture" of her colon. This has been what's causing her pain and constipation when she tries to have a bowel movement! We are unsure as to whether this is the reason for her small size. Simone had surgery at LVSES to remove the stricture as well as much of the colon behind the stricture, because it was distended and they feared that it would not function properly. Simone is recovering well at her foster home but it will be several weeks-months before her colon can resume a more normal function. We hope that this surgery will end her pain and struggles! Major surgeries and medications can be expensive, even with generous discounts from the veterinarians, so we are asking for donations to offset the cost of Simone's treatment. We are accepting SERIOUS INQUIRIES and adoption applications. Please keep in mind that although she is small and beautiful, she is special needs and may need more than the annual visit to her vet.
If you are able to help Simone, please make your donation through PayPal or send to Shamrock Foundation Inc., P. O. Box 24033, Louisville, KY 40224-0033. Please help us, help her.
